About Us

Animal Tales is a family-run podcast, run entirely by the three of us. We get tremendous enjoyment from writing and recording the stories, from seeing where in the world the stories are being listened to, and from finding out just how much you enjoy them.

We put a lot of time and effort into creating an Animal Tales story, always aiming to keep each one suitable, appropriate, friendly and fun. Kindness and thoughtfulness often feature, as well as consequences and forgiveness. We want the stories to be ones we would have enjoyed as children, and ones we'd have been happy sharing as parents. And if we can make them funny and a bit silly we'll do that too.

All our stories are written by either Alice and Simon. As creators, we detest AI and don't go near it, so when you listen to an Animal Tales story or buy one of the books, you're guaranteed that it's all 100% human-only content.

Josephine from Animal Tales

Josephine

Josephine spent most of her career as a journalist, working in Hong Kong and the UK. Now, along with husband Simon, they run a design and illustration business on the edge of the New Forest in the UK.

Far from loud and outgoing, narrating a podcast to children across the globe is one of the last things she ever thought she would be doing. Fortunately, she loves it, especially when requests and messages come in.  Her approach to reading the stories is to imagine reading to her own children when they were small, and that calm, unhurried storytelling is what so many families say they appreciate.

Alice from Animal Tales

Alice

Alice grew up around a dad who made stories and a mum who valued telling a story well. Always surrounded by books, she displayed a talent for storytelling while still at school and was the only student on her university course to have two scripts selected to be made into graduation films.

Alice has written over 300 stories (at the time of writing this) for Animal Tales and gets a particular kick out of the fact that the podcast's most popular story is one of hers, not her dad's (it's The Sleepy Unicorns, in case you were wondering).

Simon from Animal Tales

Simon

Simon has been creating children's stories his entire working life, having written or illustrated over fifty titles. He is also one of the writers to the Short Stories For Kids podcast.

He writes his podcast stories around his graphic design and illustration work, and is also resposible for the techy side of recording and uploading Animal Tales. If things do go wrong it tends to be his fault.

You can see some of Simon's books, as well as some titles he's published for others, at the Ceratopia Books website, should you be interested.
